Columbus, Ohio
This culvert tunnel under North High St. has been nicknamed
The Gates of Hell because of the intimidating metal structers
used to block debris from entering the tunnel. The Gates start
just behind Tim Hortons, and run under High Street and White
Castle, and then empty into a little muddy creek that later
flows into the Olentangy River.
The tunnel walls are covered in layer upon layer of graffiti,
some of which is very amazing. The tunnel has a few curves in
it so the center is completly dark without a flashlight. Even
with flashlights its hard to see what you're doing. There is a
small room in the center of the tunnel, and a few more curves
before the tunnel lets out just behind white castle.
Even though its just one single tunnel, this drain is one of the
more interesting ones, in my opinion at least. Well worth
checking out.
